Help Wanted : Shelver

In this role you will:

  • Accurately shelve library materials, shift items, and perform ongoing shelf maintenance.
  • Complete customer request lists, item lists, and retrieve other materials as assigned.
  • Empty outdoor book drops.
  • Help with opening and closing procedures.

You will need to be:

  • 16 years old or older.
  • Able to arrange items in a certain order according to a specific set of rules.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Familiar with the Dewey Decimal Classification System.
  • Able to stand for up to 4 hours.
  • Able to reach materials on low and high shelves.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Able to push a full cart of library materials.
  • Able to use a PC, word processing software, email, and other basic technology.

You will need to have:
No prior experience or training, however, previous library volunteer experience is a plus.

You will get:
Starting pay of $12.35 per hour.

Hours for this position are:
Evenings and weekends. 2-3 shifts per week and 3-4 hours per shift.
